Provincial Domain of Palingbeek

The Palingbeek provincial domain is a stone's throw from Ieper. Many stories come together here. Such as the one about the Oude Vaart, a failed attempt to excavate a canal between the Ieper and Ijser rivers. Or about the First World War that left its mark on the hilly landscape. After the building frenzy and destruction, nature took over. In this undulating, wooded landscape we walk by the pools and marshes, orchards, old and young woods and flower-filled grasslands. The Coming World Remember Me (CWRM) land art installation keeps the memory of the past alive. Further along, we pass AstroLAB IRIS People's Observatory where you are free to take a look walking (https://astrolab.be/bezoek/).

• every afternoon during the school holidays
• March to November:
  on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm
• closed in December, January until March 1, 2024  (but can be reached by mail or by appointment)
