Father’s Day in Belgium: Let’s Celebrate Care in All Its Forms

Because love doesn’t always follow a traditional script.

In Belgium, Father’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of June.
But for many families, it’s not a simple date.

Some kids have two dads.
Some live with just their mom.
Some are raised by a grandparent, a sibling, or someone who stepped in with love.

And yes — sometimes these moments bring up big questions, especially from little ones:

“Who should I make the card for?”
“Can I have two celebrations?”
“Do I have to celebrate Father’s Day if I don’t have a dad?”

🌱 Real Families, Real Stories

Here at Badaboo, we live these questions too.

Renata, one of our beloved team members (and the original badamama ❤️), is a solo mom by choice.
Her daughter is growing up surrounded by love, curiosity, and a strong, joyful woman as her guide.

But every year, when Father’s Day approaches, the questions come.
And for a long time, they hurt.

The good news? Renata’s daughter’s school has shifted to celebrating Family Day instead.
And that small change made a huge difference.

Because when we open space to honor all kinds of families, no one feels left out.

💛 Love Is a Verb

At Badaboo, we believe that what makes someone a “parent” isn’t biology — it’s presence.

It’s:

  • Bedtime stories,
  • Snacks in the backpack,
  • Last-minute costumes for school,
  • And endless hugs.

So whether your child has one parent, two, or a whole village around them —
this day is yours to celebrate.
