Provincial Domain Sterrebos

The Sterrebos in the district of Rumbeke is 27 hectares in size. The largest part of the castle grounds consists of woods, followed by a 19th century park in English style and hayfields.

There is a wide variety of park trees around the domain. For example, there is a plane tree of almost 200 years old in front of the castle. Various plants grow in the hay meadow, such as cuckoo flowers and meadowsweet, which add color to the area.

In addition to the many plants and trees, animals also find their home in the Sterrebos. Various water birds can be found in the vicinity of the pools and the pond. The winter period is the ideal time to spot a long-eared owl.
